I burned out a few days ago, not realy meaning to, but I had to get out of the way before I got hit. While I was accelerating, I felt this huge clunk in the rear end. But as soon as I slowed down to a crusing speed it stoped and everything was ok. Then today, I drove the car and found that when driven normaly there is no problem, but when I step on it, that same clunk and knocking in the rear end comes back, but only on the initial acceleration (starting out) visualy everything looks ok, the only thing that I found was that my universal joints on the drive shaft felt worn, considering that they are only 1 1\2 years old. If someone could help I would greatly appriciate it.
Thanks

I had the same thing, I thought it was coming from my rear. It turned out to me my trans mount!

Tranny mount.
Do you think I should get the cheaper mount for 6.99 just plain rubber, or the better 24.95 ones.

I have the same problem. I hope that the tranny mount is the problem.

tranny mount. dont bother spending $10 for the rubber one. im on my 3rd rubber one in 3 years. i just put a poly urathane(sP?) mount and no problems. they are a little more pricey but itll pay for itself in the long run. $24.95 at S&K speed here in NY

Thanks. I am going to put it up on a rack tomorrow and verify that its the tranny mount.

Get an Energy Suspension Poly Mount. If your crossmember bolts aren't locked up, or stripped then it'll be an easy 15 minute job. It'll take longer to jack the car up than to change the mount.
sounds like the usual tranny mount...
get the poly one.. you wont regret it.
only $20.95 from summit

Definitely get the Polyurathane mount from Summit or wherever. It's WELL WORTH the extra $$. Just think of it this way, eventually you'll end up spending MORE on replacing rubber ones.
I got mine from Summit and it's been solid for the past year. I went thru 4 of the rubber ones in 2 months prior to getting the poly one.
