Trans rebuild?is this a good price?

Well my tranny dosent shift from 1st in to 2nd in less i floor it so i have to get a rebuild. So the guy is going to charge me $980 with redline performance clutch packs. So was wondering if this is a little much also how would i convert it to a manual shifting auto matic think about getting the dualgate shifter. Also i heard that if you buy a higher stall converter that if you dont take off everytime at the rpm range that its rated at.That the cltuches will burn up faster. One more thing what are some things i can buy to beef up the trans im really lookinf towards a supercharged 383 stroker running about 8psi.

if the price includes R&R i'd say it's a great price, even too cheap. if R&R isn't included i'm not sure. flat rate on a rebuild should only be a few hours, 3 or so i'd guess. you ought to be able to price rebuild parts from local parts store and ever a rebuilt trans to compare prices.

That sounds like the price for a rebuild only. What other upgrades are they going to do or is it just a stock rebuild?

What do you think the hp/tq rating of that set up is?? I am in need of a tranny (been through 4 of them so far), and this time, I want a professionally built, bullet proof transmission that will last!! You are one of the ten dealers I am considering. Thanks in advanced.

As long as you are using a 10" or smaller diameter torque converter, the Street/Strip unit will hold 550+ HP, if you need it to handle more?, then the "Limited Street" will take about 625-650 HP max. If this helps?, my comeback rate is less than 5%, and I do "honor" my warrantys. If you have any questions, let me know?

I am using a Midwest 3500 stall 12" converter with a 9" lock up converion. It is rated at 600 hp. I'm going to get it re-stalled to 2400-2600 rpm and have it tightened. Will this be adequate with the "limited street" tranny? My current setup is a stock 350 TPI, with SLP headers, dual random tech cats, SLP cat back, other bolt ons which has put down 241/338 n/a to the wheels on a stock chip and stock timing. I have recently added a 100hp of nitrous (which I believed killed the tranny). I will be building a 383 forged stroker and possibly up the nitrous to 250hp. This will be a daily driven street car that will see occasional track time (for fun). I do run a tranny cooler BTW, and external tranny filter with temp sending unit. Power output of the stroker n/a is to be in the 475-525 range (pending cam and heads). Will this be the right transmission for me? And if not, do you have a recomendation? I do appreciate your responses thus far. Thanks.
