The LT1 tranny will bolt up to any smallblock, but if it's a 2-piece rear main engine you'll need a conversion flywheel (Centerforce part #700107.) Centerforce also carries T-56 flywheels for externally-balanced engines, but I don't know the part number offhand.

I don't see why they don't make a new style bellhousing. even with the retro flywheel it still costs alot for that type of clutch. I was looking at my bellhousing and you almost could make it work but, I don't feel good on cutting it up and making a new fork.

I wasn't aware of a 2 piece flywheel, whats bothering me is the speedo/gearing problem. I have a mechanical speedo...how the hell do you go about changing the mech signal to VSS or whatever.

88.....I'm not sure what you mean by "new style bellhousing." You can buy an aftermarket T-56 that will bolt up to the T-5 bellhousing and use the T-5 clutch, but it also requires you to shorten the driveshaft and torque arm IIRC.
Stealth.....there's a product called the Cable-X that will convert the VSS signal to a mechanical speedo output.

yea, 300$ that sounds right, does it matter what kind of rear gears i have? i heard somewhere that unless you have the exact same gears in your car that the car the transmission came out of had, that it still won't give you the correct speed.

I don't know the specifics on the Cable-X (my car has an electronic speedo) but there are people out there who have used it before. Maybe one of them will chime in.

If they made the bellhousing then there would be no need for any other modifications to the drive shaft and torque arm. If some one will sell me a t56 bellhousing I will mod. it and show you just what I mean. I compared them both and took correct mesurments everything will work I just need one to play with.

What do you have in mind? Using a T-5 pressure plate and T-56 disc and fabbing a bracket or something to mount the slave cylinder?

if you cut out the area in red. this would allow you to use the stock slave. and the with the depth of the t56 inputshaft it will still work with stock flywheel and clutch. the only other mods would be to the fork (make the slave push hole on the other side than it is) maybe make a new fork from scratch. I would like to beef up the bellhousing a little more after it was cut but, the t-5 one has very little support just little parts molded out to the slave support. I think I would have to show you the finished setup becuase I am sure I lost you guys
