no speedo gears calibrating my speedo?

I sent an email to 700r4.com asking them some stuff about trying to figure out what gears I need to correct my speedometer... they replied saying that I didn't have gear sets calibrating it... hell, I'll cut and paste:

Your speedometer is not calibrated using gear sets but using an electronic calibration procedure. See your local GM dealer who should be able to recommend someone who performs this service.
that's not right is it? because from what I've read, the electronic speedometers just have a different set of gears than the cable driven ones... what's going on here?

What exactly did you ask them? You might have confused them if you used the phrasing "calibrating the speedometer", which would mean making the speedometer head show the correct speed for a given pulse rate from the VSS.

I think I did say something like that... but still... I mentioned swapping my rear end and crap, and asking what gears I would need, etc etc.... so, I DO need speedo gears, right? hehe

well.. I kinda knew which ones I wanted... but using the formula someone had posted I came up with different gears than 700r4.com did... that calculator is closer to what I came up with than what 700r4 had.. that's more what I was asking them, why they have such a different number.. I guess they didn't even really answer my question then....
