Rear End Swap

Hey everybody, just wanted to post some pics of my recent project...got the old 3.08 rear end out and put in a 3.42 peg legger...I was surprised at the ease of the swap! Not bad at all, except for this dang Kansas heat! lol...

posting some pics....

The new gears (well, new to the car...they were out of an 86 camaro v6) do make a big difference over the 3.08's, and replacing the endlinks made a world of difference!! She's tight again!! One of the bushings on the driver's side was totally gone, bolt head and all....made it kind of sloppy around corners...I went with the Energy Suspension ones.....

Now I'm thinking of replacing the front sway bar endlinks and bushings along with a wonderbar...I hear that is one of the best mods for the money....does anyone have anything to add to that? Thanks for looking at my post!!!

Poly swaybar bushings and endlinks and a wonderbar are great mods to do, especially for the cost involved. I highly recommend Top Down Solutions' wonderbar. IMHO Lon's design is better than any other on the market (and the customer service is EXCELLENT.)

I'd also like to add that if you want her to be tight, the best thing you can possibly do is weld in a set of subframe connectors.

Yes, I intend to get Lon's Wonderbar, just waiting for a little extra cash to roll in! lol...I'm not going to waste money on a factory one. I think the red powdercoat will go good on my car...

Subframe connectors are a little bit down the road for me, I have 3 kids to keep fed and in school... but definately in the plans. Also some tubular trailing links as well. I think I'll just leave my stock panhard bar in place since I'm not lowering the vehicle. I don't have the means to weld myself, so I'll have to figure in some labor to get the SFC's in. So much time, so little money! ha ha....
