stupid question...

stupid question... Im dumping off the axles to have my new bearings and seals pressed on and i want to make sure i label the axles correctly. A good mechanic could easily tell which is which but i never know these days. Now, which side of the rear end is considered the 'left' side and which is considered the 'right' side? I would assume that the passenger side of the rear end is the right side and the drivers side is the left. I know, it sounds stupid but its all relative on how i look at the rear.

cars and every thing else i know of consider right and left like you're sitting in it driving forward, so driver side is left and passenger is right. what i do is consider the left the odd number side and right the even, like the engine banks so i'd stamp the left axle 1 and the right 2, since i have number stamps and not letter stamps,
