ES Trans mount question...
just wondering if the Energy Suspension Trans mount is a direct fit from the trans to the cross member or if i still need the secondary mounts and plate. im getting the ES mount tomorrow, but my secondary mounts..the rubber ones are torn to all hell. And i dont know if ES makes them or if i can find some after market poly ones. Can someone let me know, thanks.

what secondary mounts? There's 1 rubber trans mount that goes between the trans and the crossmember and nothing else.
Anyway, the ES mount is a direct swap for the stock one except that you have to use their bolt, which is a tad too big to fit through the hole in the crossmember, so you'll need to grind the crossmember hole a tad bigger. Piece of cake.
DO NOT use the "preload" spacer they include with the mount. It'll goof up the pinion angle and could cause a vibration.

Some cars have the secondary mounts. From what I've seen it varies on which ones get them. I have them. ES makes the secondary tranny mounts you need.

So i can just throw out the secondary mounts and pop in the ES mount... sounds like what i was wanting to do anyways. Sounds like it would be a much better set up, transmission directly connect to the crossmember.

........... or get a crossmember without those goofy secondary mounts at the junk yard for $5 and eliminate them all together. cheaper too . can this be done on the 82's?

82's have a different crossmember and mounts at different locations in the subframe. Not sure what you are saying Opha....the mounts I listed don't eliminate the secondary tranny mount. They are just replacement ES bushings that replace the existing worn out rubber ones. You still need the primary mount and secondary mount...

yeah, with the way it's set up i will need to use the secondary mounts. Kinda sucks, but when i get the money im just going to get a new torque arm for the trans so it fits perfectly. I tried to jimmy rig it with out using the secondary mounts, and i can feel the trans move when i shift and i know that's not good. So i guess i'll just run down to Summit tomorrow and pick them up. It's nice being 20 min from Summit and about 30 from Jegs. Prob the only good reason to live in Ohio.
