timing and trans shift relation

Is there any relation between timing and the trans shifting?
I mean specifically if my cars timing is improporly set at 20 degrees would it effect the transmissions shifting?

No. The governor in the transmission decides that usually and the kickdown cable decides downshift. Is your tranny computer controlled?

It should not be computer controled then. The 4l60e is. My 700r4 when I had it did the same thing. They make governor recalibration kits to adjust the shift points. They are not hard to install and don't cost too much. I am not sure what suddenly make the 700's start doing this though. Mine did it right after its first rebuild. May need a new TV cable. I have heard that can mess things up pretty good to if that is out of adjustment.
