Mettalic flakes in pan on fresh TH350

I recently got my car back with a freshly built TH350 and 3500 stall convertor. I trailered the car home and took it for a short 1 mile drive. The first to second shift was delayed as I mentioned in an earlier post. I trailered the car back to the shop and they found metallic flakes in the pan and filter. They said the trans looked fine and they suspected the convertor. They sent the convertor over to the shop I got it from and they cut it apart and said it looked fine. Any ideas where these flakes might have come from?

Did you have a tranny fail before? If so some of the junk may have been stuck in the trans cooler if you run one. Just a thought.

The trans that came out was clean, nothing in the pan. All the cooler lines and cooler were flushed anyway.

Were the flakes brass in color? If they were, that is a thrust washer most likely, not good.

The builder said they were grey maybe aluminum. I am going with a different TC as the builder has torn the trans down completely and could find no problem with it.

The 1-2 shift was delayed by 2 seconds so that is why the car was returned to the shop. They found the metallic stuff in the pan and filter. Since then they tore the trans down and checked everything out. The convertor was returned and they cut it apart and could find no problem. The trans is back in the car now with a different convertor and is working well so far.
