Trans leak if full
Well I have had issues with leaks since I put the trans in. At first it was around the pan. Now after 3 gaskets I think I have that taken care of. I know I have a couple small leaks from the cooler lines where they go into the trans since there is no good way to tighten them after the trans is bolted up.
But if the trans is full of fluid and I leave it ver night a good amount leaks out, after about 2 days I lost a pint.
But now that it is about a quart low It doesnt leak when left overnight. Now I am not certain where it is leaking from it could still be the pan (not sure how though, Man I sealed that sucker and waited 36 hours before putting fluid back in). But could it be leaking out of the coolant lines even with the car not running?

Well that is the location where the leak seems to be coming from. Though I thought I pushed that ring in there pretty good. I guess it only one bellhousing bolt to loosed the fill tube though.
Does the fluid get filled that high though? thats pretty high on the trans

Take a close look at the gear select lever input shaft seal! I have had 3 700R-4's and they all leak there. I have tried new shafts and seals to no avail they still leak. When the tranny is running there is no leak because the fluid level drops but let it sit overnight and fluid on the floor.
To get the lines on the side of the trans, do this: Stick a jack under the trans pan with a board on it to distribute the weight better. Remove the trans crossmember, and lower the trans. Make sure to watch the distributor cap though, or it will hit the firewall and crack. That -should- give you more than enough clearance to get a line wrench up there and tighten the lines, and it'll only take about half an hour. Depending on how much you lower it, you might have to pull the driveshaft too. Also, for the trans pan, I think there is a sequence for tightening the bolts, if you don't follow it you could bunch up the gasket and it will leak.
