U joint q?

How do I check my U-joints? They seem pretty solid by hand but I'm not sure if I'm doing the test correctly.

short of a visual inspection of the trunion and needle bearings play and noise is about all you have to go on. if you go as far as taking a look at the needles you may as well replace the u joint as cheap and easy as it is.
