Engine: stock LG4 305
Transmission: 700R4
Type "F" in a 700r4
Anyone tried this? It`s an old trick,thinner fluid=quicker shifts.

Type "F" was last used when there was asbestos in clutches (1977). It has less holding power in dynamic situations (where shifts occur) in all transmissions since. The reason it appears to make the transmission shift firmer is that it allows the clutches/band to slide longer at the beginning of the shift, and come on all at once at the end of the shift. A good Dexron III is all you need in most cases. Borg Warner & Raybestos agree with this.

trick shift is just type f with some blue dye added for color.
As stated already, do not use it in a modern automatic transmission. Just do a search on it and you'll see people who have had problems because of it.
