Tranny Troubles.... HELP!!
Hi guys! Having lots of troubles with my car. It is an '86 Iroc with a 350 TPI (300HP - 375TQ) and a 700R4. I can still drive the car, but something seems not right. When under light throttle, the tranny shifts up into OD very quick. So fast that when it hits OD the RPM's got down below 800. Also, when shifting manually, I have to take my foot partly off the gas after I shift the lever in order for the tranny to shift. Also doesn't want to shift when putting it in OD and letting it shift auto at WOT, I still have to let off the gas a little. Also, when shifting manually, when you get to 3rd, it feels like it shifts again even when it doesn't. Then when in OD and let off the gas, it feels like it downshifts when it doesn't and if you lightly touch the brake, that feeling goes away. The guy I got the car from does tranny work and had just rebuilt it when I bought it and also put in a stall convertor (around 2200). Does anyone have ANY ideas on this??? I kow nothing and need help BAD! THANK YOU!!

Check your TV cable. When mine broke, it upshifted very quickly and shifted erratically. Same with the 'extra shift' in third, a TV cable adjustment took care of the problem.

Thanks Man! I'll try that. I played around with it a little the other week with really no results, but I'll give it more of a try this time. Any tips on adjusting it?

OK... Been playing around with the TV cable and it doesn't seem to be making much difference. How would I find out if it is broken or something? What else could it be? Thanks guys!!
