700 goes from perfect to crap in a week...
About a week ago, my tci 700 was working perfectly. It shifted very firm through all the gears, often chirping the tires on the 1-2 shift at anything over 3/4 throttle. Around 6 days ago, i started hearing a buzzing sound in between all shifts, almost sounded like a spring vibrating against metal. It didnt always make the sound, only about 1/2 the time i drove it did it ever make the noise. I checked the fluid and it was roughly a heavy pint over, a little more than 1/2 a quart. I got it into the appropriate range now. So i get into it today and i notice it is shifting softly. The 1-2 shift that used to chirp the tires now takes alot longer, almost a full second, very very mushy. Also the 2-3 shift is alot worse off. The rpm's will flair up and if i let off of it, it will shift into 3rd. I was never able to see what the 3-4 shift would do. If i do not get on it, it shifts OK but not as good as it used to a week ago. What really concearns me is the WOT shifts. Im affraid to get on it b/c the 1-2 shift is soooo soft and the 2-3 shift allows it to temporarily go into neutral before finally going into 3rd. I am completly lost. TCI products are junk as this is the 3rd time ill be servicing this tranny that has less than 8,000 on it. Fortunatly for TCI, the warrenty is up so ill fixing this practically new tranny with my out of pocket cash. Thanks to all who respond and try to help and DONT BUY TCI!
P.S. The fluid is red and not burnt at all.
Thanks.

My tranny does the same thing on the 2-3 shift, but it's totally stock with the addition of a B&M Transpak.
From what I understand, the stock trannys all do it, but it's more obvious when you install any type of shift kit.
I wouldn't expect that type of problem from a transmission that's supposed to be built better than stock.
As far as the 1-2 shift, re-adjust the TV cable. Perhaps it got bumped out of whack while you were under the hood doing something.

What do you think of that transpak thay you have. how would you say it compares to the other shift kits , the shift improver kits by b&m and the trans go shift kits?

I like the B&M kit, but everyone on here says it's bad.
I know 3 other guys that have it in a th700 and haven't had a single problem.
I'm happy with mine. A little noticable when driving normal, but nice and firm when using heavy throttle.
Honestly I wouldn't do it again though. Not in a used trans. At the time I didn't care if I blew the tranny because I was going to replace or rebuild it anyway, but that was 2yrs and 25K miles ago.

I had the BM kit also. It's an alright kit. I still had the 2/3 flare with it. The 1/2 shifts were harsh and teh 2/1 harsh also. I liked it but it eventually got old especially driving in the rain and hitting the 2nd gear under light throttle and the rear kicking out. I like my pro-built 700r4 now a lot it has the transgo kit in it. I have no problem with 2/3 flares anymore.
The transgo kit you simply get more parts in it. It will fix the 2/3 flare in rpms. It will also provide a little firmer shifts (bigger boost valve .500 vette type). It didn't provide as harsh as shifts (I add'd a stall with new trans so I'm basis on this since I couldn't test with stock stall). The shifts get progressivly firmer not just full blown hard with the BM kit.
It all just depends on what you like.
