What Gears???
What Gears???
I'm planning in the future to get the TPI Crate Engine from sdpc.

Well, w/ that engine, and a pro-built Street/Strip 700R4 w/ the Vigilante Torque Converter, what Rear End would be best?
I currently have a '90 V6 mpfi (that I am changin to TPI w/ that other engine)...I believe it has a 10 bolt w/ 3.23 gears. I can get a Posi 9 Bolt w/ 2.77 gears. Would those gears be good enough to get good output from that engine/trans combo?
Let me know what you think.
Thanks!!

I'll answer my own question..."NO"...lol
Ok, I found a different Differential. It's a Borg Warner 9 Bolt, Posi, Disc Brakes, w/ 3.23 Gears. At least it's a 3 Series. AND, since I already have those gears, speedo will be correct. He's got it for $250. I think it's a pretty good deal. I think I'll run that route.
Final outcome, 3 Series, Borg Warner, 9 Bolt, Stronger Rearend w/ Disc. I don't think I could go wrong

no need to worry about what series the differential is on a 9 bolt, they are all the same. Also, with a 9 bolt if you want to upgrade gears in the future they are a **** load of money.

for example, i have a 2.77 bw rear and i would not be able to put 3.73s on it unless i upgrade from the the 2 series carrier to the 3 series carrier.
just FYI.
Would it make any sense to go from the 3.23's to let's say, 3.42's?? I don't want to go as high as 3.73's as for economy (cruising wise), and just overall the high revs when going "slow"...lol...
Thanks for the input.
