Help me with my 9 bolt???
Hey guys ive been looking into upgrading my stock 2.73s to 3.42s. I looked around and the only aftermarket set i could find are 3.70s but the guy told me I have to replace the carrier also.
Now if I want to upgrade to 3.42s, do I have to get the gears and carrier from an old 9 bolt?? Is there anything else I need?? I dont know a hell of alot about rear ends but I think the posi unit is inside the carrier and can be rebuilt correct??
Thanks for any help guys ive looked around but have had alot of trouble finding some good info.

Yep, you need a new carrier. your carrier will only accept up to a 3.08 ratio. 3.23 and up used a different carrier.
