How bad is if for the tranny to be overfilled?

Like a complete moron I didn't check my trans fluid since I bought the car (about 2.5k ago). Anyway I checked it a few days ago and its pretty high, probably 1-2 quarts. My problem is i'm in college right now so there isn't really anything I can do about it besides pay a shop way to much to change and flush the fluid for me. I was planning flushing it and going to synthetic when I went home for thanksgiving break it will probably be another 300-400 miles. How bad is this?

I checked every other fluid in the damn thing, once or twice a week, for some reason it just occured to me that I haddn't even looked at the tranny fluid since I got it

Buy a wide and long tupper wear box, then jack the car up and take out the pan. Drain, put pan back in with new gasket/filter. Then fill.

Do it before you kill the tranny from overheating. Overheating the tranny is a VERY bad thing. You could also blow the pump.

You can go to the hardware store and get a really long 1/4" tube stick it down the filler tube and suck away. If you can get under the car then pop out the filler tube and then u can use a real short peice of tube.

Yeah, the thing is I don't want to change it now because its going to be changed to synthetic in about 400 miles, I don't have a jack, stands, ramps or anything with me, although its a great excuse to buy a nice floorjack and stands if a cop drive by and I have my car up in the parking garge they might be dick and make me put it down and have it towed to a shop to finish. The tube sounds like a good idea though.

Make sure your checking the fluid while the car is running, in case you didn't know. Fluid level drops dramaticly when the car is started.

Yeah, thanks I think Ill just go to the hardware store today and pick up some rubber hose.
Yeah I checked it while running, a mechanic once told me though to change gears a couple times before checking it like PNRPD, i tried both, both times it came up way high.
