Gettin ready for some winter projects, need some sources.

Hey guys,

Winter project will include beefing up the 10 bolt in my 91. I wanna use stuff that will make it somewhat reliable at the track.
So far hear is my list. Got the SLP Torsen posi ($99 cheapie). I wanna change out the gears, the car has 130000 on it, and had a really bad pinion seal when i got it, so i have no idea how long it went without fluid, so just a stock 3.23 set is needed. But who should I go with. GM is wayyy too much, and I hear Richmonds whine like an old *****. I will also purchase an install kit for the mechanic, and top it off with a reinforced cover (T/A, Summit..ect)
Would also like to replace the stock axles since it will all be apart, and that raises another question of who to get them from?

Yes I have searched and found mixed results. I would like to hear some people with actual experiences.

yeah , dont get richmond gears, i just sent a center section back for my chrysler 8 3/4 thats in my 85 trans am . The gears whine, more than was acceptable for the street .If ya raced the car no problem but if ya dont, dont get richmond. Why dont you replace the rear end .what i mean is a rear end from a 4th gen trans am or camaro. They are a 1 and half wider on each side, which will require 4th gen rims and spacers on the front tires, but its better than a 3rd gen rear end, Thats why i canged my rear end. I had a nine bolt .

The thing is, the 4th gen rear may be an inch wider, but it is still the same 7.625" 10 bolt i have now. Thats why the torsen posi from the 4th gens can drop into 89 and newer 3rd gens w/out an axle change. I am not ready to justify the 1500-2000 to spend on a 9 inch or a 12 bolt. Maybye when im runnin 11's and the stock gives up the ghost. But not now, and that wont happen for quite a few years. Ill be makin more money by then anyway.

The 3.23 is a perfect street gear, and gives me decent 60 ft times as it is, i can get those lower with other items. Right now, durability, traction, and a somewhat quiet rear is what im lookin to build.
