th700r4 power

Yes, the question is surely asked somewhere but frankly I do not have the patience to dig through 20 pages of threads that turned out in the search

I really wonder _how much_ power can a stock th700r4 handle, and how much with a shift improver kit?

TIA, guys.

I'd say with a low milage tranny, probaly 400HP but it won't last long, a shift kit will improve line pressure and help, but not by much. Do a good rebuild with a kit like the B&M transkit and install a corvette servo and it will handle 400hp all day long.

It kind of depends on how it's driven and what kind of TC it has in it. Personally I wouldn't trust one past 350hp, stock at least. They can hold up to 600hp if built properly (Pro-Built).

Don't get the B&M. Go with transgo and it should last a while if you don't abuse it too much.

I've broken two now, with a really mild 400. I don't think they like torque very much. My curent 700R4 has a superior brand (common trans rebuild parts supplier) shift kit and corvette servo, and it seems to be holding up better.

i think if u build them right they can hold up to quite a few ponies if built right!! Keyword built right I think if u add a corvette servo and a nice B&M or Tran Go shift kit they old up to at least a good 400 hp (they alwaya have for me) Then if you go putting high performance clutches, a bigger pump, a manual valve body, and a few other things you can do I'm sure they can hold up to a good 600-700 hp
