A few weeks ago I was giving my 1984 Trans Am with a 5.0 and a 700r4 about 1/3 throttle in first and when it tried to switch from 1-2 there was a loud thump and it went into neutral. So now, if I put the shifter into OD the car stays in neutral but if I knock the shifter down to 3rd then it will run up through the gears from 1-3 and if I am going faster than 35-40 MPH I can knock the shifter up to OD and it will go into OD. However, if I slow down to 35 MPH or below, the car will go back to neutral and I have to start out in 3rd again. And to go along with that, if I driver the car for longer that a few miles the 1-2 shift, starting in the 3rd gear position, will start to shudder and shake the whole car. Anyone have any ideas, I would much obliged. Thanx.
