what to do to install a new throttle valve?

I just purchased a GM throttle valve Cable and installed it on my bird. I adjsted it properly and sometimes when Im driving around my cars seems to shift too early from 1 to 2... I especially notice it when Im about 3/4 throttle...it seems to shift earlier then when at part throttle. I think that when I put the new cable through the hook on the throttle valve I may have stretched or bent something. I was thinking of installing a new valve, but I dont know what all this requires. Does It require me to pull the tranni or just the pan? Someone at some time greatfully ripped the tranni section out of my shop manual so I am lost. Thanks, Ben

Adjust it the right way by dropping the pan and adjusting it form inside. If you don't know how, have a tranny shop show you how to do it right.
