WC T-5 into 82 Auto car...

What all do I need to swap a T-5 into an 82 Z28 that I have a Th-350 in now? I swapped in my built Th-350 with my motor this last year, But I am goin 6 hours back and fourth to college next year and 3000 RPM @ 60 mph is gonna kill me driving, And kill the car! So I wanna swap in a manual and I dont DREAM of a t-5 but its the cheapest route right now. My motor is dynoed @ 316 hp, 388 ft/lb torque. Hopefully I wont shred the T-5! So what all would I need compared to a newer Camaro swap. The motor is a 78' block and it has the 200c driveshaft and crossmemeber etc in it right now. I really want a manual so if anyone knows a setup for sale let me know too! Thanks!

Right now I have a 3.43 Posi, And I like how it pulls with that gear. I am running a smaller wheel/tire combo now, I know thats some of my problem. But I've also wanted a manual for a long time too. I was just asking fo information. I might end up running bigger tires and installing a Megashifter and be just as happy!

With that tame of a motor, a T-5 will live just fine, as long as you avoid clutch dumps and speed shifting.

Basically you need a donor car. That would be a whole lot easier and cheaper than trying to piece together something that you don't know yet what it all is.

You'll need the crossmember, drive shaft, shifter, trans, bell housing, flywheel, clutch (clutch cover, disc, throwout bearing, & pilot bearing), complete pedal assembly, hydraulics (I strongly recommend that you go this route rather than the mechanical linkage), and the correct speedo gears. You may need a different starter. You'll need to install the correct crossmember bolt holes that your car doesn't have, and cut the hole in the firewall where the master cyl bolts up. The flywheel will need to be the one from a 83-85 305. You may need to add one starter hole to your block, if it's missing the inner hole for the 153-tooth starter; there's no possible way to use any starter that doesn't use the correct bolt hole, because the 168-tooth hole is located such that a bolt in it would have to go RIGHT THROUGH THE MIDDLE of the starter drive.

Well I have an 85 Z parts car with a 700R4, What all could I steal from that. I could get crossmember and driveshaft couldnt I. Also is it goin to be hard to find the flywheel? Also If I got a Centerforce for it that would work with the older motor and new trans? Thanks

I just did this swap and it was not good because I did know what I had in the car (bought it a year ago). The 350 was pre 86 so the bolt pattern is 3 5/8" vs a post 86 3". Also my TH350 had a six inch tail shaft and I had to get the drive shaft cut 2 1/2" to fit. The 153 tooth flexplate is 12 3/4" and I had to get a flywheel from Summit to fit the pre 86 with the bigger bolt pattern and 153. The 168 tooth would not work with the bellhousing I had. The cross member, flywheel and driveshaft was my biggest problems. So make sure you know what you have and the parts to replace -- if not it will not be pretty.

Yep, the crossmember and driveshaft are about all you can use from that parts car. The pedals and hydraulics are the same in the V6 and V8 cars. It shouldn't be too hard to find the right flywheel - a 153 tooth, two-piece rear main seal with a 10.5"clutch. The centerforce won't care what tranny is behind it, as long as it has a 26 (or is it 28 - I can never remember) spline input shaft. The bellhousing from an 84-92 V8 will work.
