cables to the shifter

how do you detach the cables coming from the car to the metallic shift plate. the circled areas are the areas that need to be detached. there is also one more part that is hidden in the picture that needs to be detached. the lowest circle is detached by a clip, but i can't figure out how to detach the hidden one, or get those cables off the shift plate. any help would be appreciated. thanks

If I remember right they should just come off the plate once you have the ends detached from the shifter. If you pull/push on them. There's a small slot in the plate that the cables slide out. If you look real close you can see it on your shifter cable.

I know there was a pin on the one that goes to the shifter itself. Cause I popped that off when I tried to reuse it with my megashifter I used an e-clip instead. I think the other one might have an e-clip on it. In that case you will need to use a screw driver and pry it off or use needle nose pliers and pry it off. If you mess up the e-clip fastener don't worry there 2-3 bucks at autozone for an assortment of sizes in 1 box.

Oh and 1 cable is for the gear selection on the transmission the other should be to lock out the shifter with the key lock. That's how if you have the key in lock position you can't shift. Figured I'd throw some useless info in.

Not having park sucks... check this combination from last month.

Shift cable broken, parking brake not hooked up, only have gears R thorugh D. Car won't start in N, only in R. Dirt stuck in valve float, leaving it way too high. No tools and a 200 mile trip to get where I am going at 8MPG.

Now that was a fun little trip.
