Putting in a 4th gen rearend
I changed my brakepads yesterday and my pass side rear rotor is crap. I was going to replace it next month but then I remembered that my buddy has a 96 Z28 rearend that I can have for free. And it has 3.73s! So I just wanted to check on a couple of things before I install it.
1. Everything will line up? The springs, lines and what not.
2. I will still be able to use my GTA wheels?
3. If I get lowering springs, will they fit? Do I get third or fourthgen springs?
4. How much is my rearend worth if I were to sell it? it has 3.23s.
Thanks
Brian

1. Springs, yes. Lines, yes. Whatnot, mostly.... parking brake cables will be interesting.
2. I don't think so. IIRC their inner hub is unique among the factory's 16" wheels, such that it will not clear the good brakes. But I could be wrong; try one of your wheels over the other rear's brakes before you take anything apart.
3. Yes they will fit. Yes you need third or fourth gen ones.
4. I'll leave that to someone else. I personally have no use whatsoever for it, any more than you do. Others may see this matter differently.

Info sounds good on everything but the wheels. It will suck if I cant use my wheels. I wont be able to do the swap obviously. I have seen others with 4th gen rears and their thirdgen wheels, but never on a gta. Are the wheels that different?? I know they are a tad different....

Yes I agree your car would look silly with the skateboard effect going on, like all the other cars that use wheels with too much positive offset.
Yes the wheels really are (or may be) that different. They are shaped quite a bit differently in one critical spot that didn't matter when they were new. I guess GM's guys had a smudge or 2 on their crystal ball that day, and didn't see into the future and notice that some people would be disappointed about that.
But, check and see first before you write it off, yours may not be the same as everyone else that has those wheels.
