Diff. between hydraulic and standard bellhousings?
Is it just a matter of a bracket for the slave cylinder and a different clutch fork? Or are they two different animals?

Yes. And yes.
The hydraulic bell housing has the mounting boss for the slave cyl. The mech kind doesn't. AFAIK the forks are the same, but I could be wrong.

The ballstuds are in different places, and the forks are different. Not interchangable because of that.
