Question about T/C tech article

Got a quick question about the Torque Converter tech article. When you install the on/off switch to the wires, do you just leave it on? Or do you manually have to turn the t/c on and off? Is there a non-computer t/c that would work in its place?

I mean if I leave the switch in the on, will the t/c act normal? Or will it always be on?
