i would go with the tci streetfighter it costs a little more but for an automatic on the street there aint nothin better. you can even have it built to your specs. and its not on e-bay so no chance of being ripped off by strange companys who may not be there when that tranny goes out in three days. just my opinion but you get what you pay for.

I haven't heard of anybody on teh West Coast who will rebuild a 700R4 back "Stock" for less than $1200 unless you pull it and install it yourself. Then you will only save $200. As a temporary measure, install a Turbo 350 or leave extra early for work....

PS: Just lunched my tranny too.......

If you are mechanically inclined you can pull, rebuild, and install the tranny yourself with basic tools. However, I'd suggest reading up on the 700r4 rebuild book that Napa sells. Its about $14 for the book.

The bare bones overhaul kit from Napa will go for about $150 + $25 for a band. If you do the work yourself you can do it cheaply. However it IS complicated, and quite job. The same parts there will cost you about $1,000 with labor and tax included.

If you can install it yourself just wait a little. That is if you can wait. Because you can get a built tranny from Dana at http://www.pro-built.net for about $1500. And Dana has a good reputation here too. You might wanna get a new TC while your at it too.

Go to http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...ct&productid=5 for the kit I use, and go to http://www.pro-built.net/index.cfm?f...categoryid=157 for the torque converter.
