Transmission question?
I have a quick question. Sometimes, not all the time, my Jeep has a hard time going into what seems to be 3rd gear. I've noticed, however, that if I let off the gas for a few seconds and then hit the gas, the gear will shift fine. My vehicle is a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee (automatic transmission), and I have never done a transmission check on it, unless someone checked it in a shop without letting me know. If anybody out there has encountered this problem with a similar type of vehicle, please let me know what the deal is. Thanks!

Your trans is slipping. It can't make the shift under WOT, but it can when you let off it. I had the exact same problem in the 700R4 I used to have in my Camaro, before I swapped it to a T56.
What's the mileage on the vehicle? When was the last time the trans was serviced?

That generation of Jeep Grand Cherokees are notorious for having the transmissions crap out all the time. I want to know if there is a single person in existance with a stock unrebuild trans with over 100k miles in one of those.
