4l60e
can anyone help me out as to how much is involved getting the 4l60e to work in a 89 Pont Formula350?
wiring? programming the comp? flywheel? driveshaft?
has anyone on this board swapped out a 700r4 for a 4l60e?
would there be any benefits in the swap?
thanks all!

they are basicaly the same tranny, another name the the later of thirdgen auto tranny where called 4L60's the 4L60e is the electronic controlled ones started out in the fourth gens.
i dont think its a swap to worry about, a well built 700r4 with a good lockup converter is really all you need.

i have a 4l60e in my blazer and i HATE it, but i think it needs a rebuild too. i would take a 700r4 over it anyday just for simplicity

The trans is a basic bolt in, as long as you get one from an F-body (you need a torque arm mount). You will need a standalone computer to run the transmission though. There are companies that sell them. Basically they use the standalone unit from d Diesel truck and reprogram it for gas motor shift points and performance oriented shift firmness.
