1-2 Shift point different than 2-3

At WOT my 700R4 shifts 1-2 @ 4500RPM and 2-3 @ 5000RPM. It has been rebuilt and has the Corvette servo and stock governor. The shift points were the same before the rebuild and the TV cable is adjusted correctly. My question is, how do I make the shift points the same? Is this a characteristic of the 700R4/L98 combo, possibly for better gas mileage at part throttle? (1-2 shift is very early at part throttle). I realize that changing the governor weights and springs will change the 1-2 shift point, but will it raise the 2-3 shift also? Or possibly the valve body has to be modified to increase line pressure for the 1-2 shift. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Changing the governor weights will alter shift points across the board.

I believe that they do this becasue of the huge gap between 1st and 2nd gear.

Evey car or truck I put a shift kit in no longer seems to exhibit this problem. It may have something to do with the accumulator springs. The shift kit has you remove these and block the pistons solid with spacers. I think this is why the shifts are all at the saem RPM after the kit is installed.

Thanks for the info. Do you have a recommended shift kit? The transmission currently has a Corvette pressure regulator and servo. I like the way it shifts now and it already chirps 2nd, so I don't want firmer shifts, just the shift points to match.

The good shifts into second mainly due to the servo. If you get a TCI or a trans-go(expesive but the best) there is several different settings for each kit.(street, strip, or towing for examples)

Blocking the accumulators, will not change the shifts points. It will change the firmness (very harsh with the Corvette servo) at light throttle openings. I do not recommend blocking the 2nd or 3rd accumulator under any circumstance, as there are "no" advantages to doing this. Accumulation will give you the "best" of both worlds, smooth part throttle shifts, & firm WOT shifts, if done properly. To change the WOT shift points, you start with the governor inner weights and springs. B&M "does not" address the shift firmness at all throttle openings as the Trans-Go does. To me the B&M leaves a lot to be desired........

Pro-Built, how do you "do the accumulation properly"? I'm asking because now the accumulators in my Blazer's 700R4 are blocked solid from the B&M kit. I will be rebuilding the trans shortly, and adding JET servos, which I believe have an even bigger apply area than the Corvette one. I don't want the shifts to be overly harsh. I do want the trans to stand up to 400+HP and 500+ lbs/ft. though.

But will this make the 1-2 upshift occur at the same RPM as the 2-3 shift?
