A Gallon Low
My 5-speed was feeling funny, so when I got new tires I had them check it and it was a gallon low.
What kind of damage could have occured? I was still running low 15's though.

It doesn't hold a gallon to begin with. A T56 barely holds a gallon. Damage depends on how long it was like that. It could range from nothing to smoked bearings and blocker rings.

Pep Boys doesn't know jack about cars! A T5 holds about 3 quarts total, maybe less.
Is the trans making any noises or being difficult going into gear? If not you're fine. If so soemthing is damaged, and a rebuild is in order. The full kits are only about $185 though.
Where did the fluid go?
