flywheel swap, will it work?

I am swaping my 90rs T-5 into my 85 z-28 that blew its 700r4. I need to know if i will have to purchase a new flywheel, (will it bolt up ) or can i just use the one from the 90? I would like to know because i have a limited time to get this done and would like to have all the parts ready to go, and just put it all together at once. Although i know that nothing ever goes to plan! lol
thanks for you help
john

If your 85 is a two piece rear main seal (original engine) Yes you will need a different flywheel. The one on the 90 has a counterweight on it that the two piece will not + the bolt pattern is different.

You need a 153 tooth flywheel for the '85 motor, which I believe will be a two piece rear main seal. Verify this for yourself though. The flywheel will need to be a neutral balance.

Hey Nova, is that a '73 or '74 model car. I have the remnants of a '74 SS. The car was too far gone to restore (massive rust). Got good money for the parts on eBay though.

Duh, I just noticed it in your sig.

What motor/trans/rear you running? My car was a 305/M21 Muncie/12-bolt posi with 3.31s. There are a few little differences, but by and large the two years are very similar.
