i have an 89 trans am 305 with 2.73's and i am getting 3.73's and a ring spacer. is my rear a 10 bolt 7.5 rear?

so to make 3.73's work i would need:

and my last question is what if i get a posi unit do i still need the ring spacer? and if i get a posi does that need to be 7.5 also?

you can buy a gear set that doesn't require a spacer. doesn't matter if you have a posi or not it's the series carrier and gear set that matches that makes the differance. i'd stay away from used parts on ebay.

 

Just get a 3 series carrier and then you don't need the spacer.
