Firebird and Camaro drivelines?
I am currently in the process of tossing together a 1985 Camaro, and my brother's boss has a firebird of around the same year (not sure what exactly). My question here is are the drivelines the same thing or compatable in order for a switch to take place?
-Thank-you in advance for any help-

I think they changed the 700-r4 transmission in '88 something like that. Their wasn't any major change in it's bolt up ability it was just internal improvements and case. Pro-Built uses the later version cases on all his build ups unless you request the older one.
I found some info from http://www.darklair.com/monte/200.vs.700.html
"-Most trans companies agree that the early 700-R4s had some durability problems and must be highly modified to make good performance engines. (didn't say what the mods are)
- the early 82-84 700-R4 units had a smaller 27-slpine input shaft and should be avoided.
- the 85-87 700-R4s can be upgraded but both companies recommended starting with an 88-93 700-R4 "
