What year t5 available?

Subject pretty much explains itself. I'm just curious what years came with the t5 and the other manual tran that are out there. Thanks for any input.

Well the t5 was the only manual tranny offered for 3rd gens. There were slight differences over the years but GM didn't make a really bullit proof manual until the T-56 came out in 1993.

What Pete said applies to 1982. 1983 onwards was the T5 behind all manual 305 models.

One point worth mentioning is that the F-body didn't get the World Class trans until '89. The earlier transmissions are not as strong.

If it helps at all, the later WC T-5's, from what I've read (just to qualify my statement) are rated to be good for 300 ft-lb torque. And, I ve read and believe it to be true that a competent manual transmision driver/operator could probably be alright with more torque than that - you'd just have to watch sudden loads on the tranny (like really hard clutch-dropping burnouts.......) Of course T-56's have a better durability record but then there is their cost - and I'm not totally sure, but I bet good ones are hard to come by in the 'yards. Tradeoffs...............

But anything afer 83 would be a 5-speed, that's my main concern. I thought i read about a few being 4 speed, true?

I believe the first two years ( I think).....

Starting in 84, only the T-5 remained so far as manuals went.

Or so I've heard.
