Core on the T56?

Ive been loking around on ebay for a T56 and most of the places say they charge a core. What exactly does that mean. Like how would i get that cash back.. wait till my tranny blows n send it back? or send them my old t5? i dont understand. Here a link

Read a little farther down and it says

"What is A Core Charge, and how do I get his money back?

A core charge is a temporary deposit that we charge to insure that we receive your old transmission back. This charge varies on every transmission. Once we receive your core back at our facility (within 30 days), it is logged in, and a core refund is processed within 1-2 weeks. Cores that are disassembled or that have cases broken are not acceptable. Any cores that are returned incomplete with pieces missing are not acceptable and no core money will be refunded."

They sell many types of trannys and you will get some money back whenever they receive what you send them. If you don't have anything to send them then you will not get the core charge back. They will take your old tranny and rebuild it and re-sell it.

note, it has to be the same kind of trans.

so you cant send them your T5... you just have to either eat the cost of the core charge, or find a rebuildable T56 core cheaper then the core charge and send them that.

Yea that makes sence. I wonder if they would accept a T5 though if he called them. I see their adds all over and they always advertise both tranny's.

They might, but you won't get a T56 core credit for it. T5s are a dime a dozen. T56s are expensive, which is why they use the core charge system.
