Problem with converter?
I just got my car back from having a th350 installed into it and it's driving very odd. The car goes right to 3500 rpm and stays there, I can feel the trans shift through all gears, but from idle to 60 it stays right at 3500 rpm. The converter i oredered was for 2800rpm and is an 11" size. Now the trans place said to me when i told them the problem that the converter looked smaller then an 11" and are saying the stall is higher then 2800. Another guy who I repect is saying it's lack of power from the motor. Anyone have a guess or similar problem?
i'd suspect your problem is with the trans. new converter? new trans? the stall speed of the conveter has little to do with the operation of the trans. i'd guess either slipping clutch or stuck valve, but it's just a guess.

Both the trans and the converter are new. The converter was made for a 3500# car with 3.27 gears to stall at 2800, i still have the 2.73 rear in and have not swapped the rear yet. I can feel the trans shift through all the gears while the rpms are staying up, it's kinda weird.

Take that thing back and insist that they look at it. I've dealt with a few shady tranny shops and I have learned this: Always get a recipt and always get a written warrinty. You will thank me later.

they had allready told me to bring the car back in a couple of weeks to check everything over and put it up on the lift. I was going to bvring it back that saturday but ran into other problems. It's a very reliable shop, i've been in other cars that had their trans' in them and have talk to guys that had them built there, that's the only reason i had them do the work. The car is a stock 305 so the 2800 stall is a little much for the motor. Like i said i can feel the trans shift through all the gears firmly just the rpms stay up around 3000-3500
