what will be the best gear ratio....
well this is my new member name as i was having problems with my old one (chevycamaro4lif)
within the next month or two i will be putting my 91Z auto under the knife to convert to a t56 6 speed. i am currently runing 4.10s in the rear and love them for off the line accelleration but i hate them on the highway.what would be the best for a T56 both for highway and the strip use? i wanna be able to hit a buck 30 without being too close to redline.
P.S. after the tranny instal my 20 PSI 383 stroker project will begin and im plannin on getting a good 700HP+
already have the ford 9" rear end and most all suspension complete for the massive amounts of power.

I agree with the 3.73 recommendation, particularly if a blower motor is in your future (or a turbo or nitrous motor for that mater).
Power added engines need less gear than NA motors.
I've got 3.73s behind a T56 and I love them. The off the line acceleration is great, and I still only turn 1,900 RPM at 80 MPH.
What T56 are you using?

I run a '95 T56 from a Z28 and have the 3.73s. It's important to know which trans because the gear ratios are different for different models of the T56.
The 3.73s should work well for your combo now, and with boost. Taller gears will probably lead to extreeme traction problems with the blower, and a fairly short first gear (you will have good RPM potential, but the way a blower generates instant boost will really take you through the cogs qucikly). Most guys with blowers are running 3.73s or 3.42s.
