Speedo revolutions

What is the number of revolutions it takes a stock third gen 700r4 electric speedometer to register one mile?

Same as any other car...

1000 revolutions per mile. Very convenient indeed!

The TPI and carbed cars use a VSS that gives 2 pulses to the ECM per revolution; the TBI cars (and maybe the S/D TPIs, I'm not sure about those though) use one that gives 4 pulses per rev.

The speedometer sees 4000 per mile.

I only ask this because using all the speedo gear calculators, they give what gm used when factoring in 960 revolutions per mile. If you assume it's 1,000 the calclations become off by a tooth or 2.
