the T56 will be goin in this month....
ok well my 700R4 is on its way out the door...damn thing i hate GM for making such a crappy overdive tranny. well anyways i am looking to purchase a complete t56 conversion kit from 94+ fbody. i know of a parts dealer that sells complete kits and offers 90 day warranty on everything $1800. this is my last resort, i have 1-2 weeks to look around for complete kits or a donor car that i can afford. please if anyone knows of a donor car or anyone with a complete kit to sell let me know ASAP!!!! also i can only pay electronically as i am using a credit card so sorry no cash at this time unless the kit is $1000 or under.
ill be back to the post once the tranny goes in and my after results

also im considering paying my mechanic to do the swap as i am afraid to cut my car and weather and time are not on my side at this moment.
has anyone had any bad experiences with the job that a mechanic has done with their swap? or has the job always been done right/good?
if i have to i would do it myself to save the money but i have a feeling that im gonna screw something up, mainly in the whole hanging the clutch pedal assembly or drilling the holes in the fire wall.
does anyone have any pics of their instal, before, during, and after...mostly during though?

man i just keep coming up with more questions...please read everything ive posted and answer anything you can.
so i was reading so post on the t56 swap and i read stuff about the torque arm. will i need a 4th gen torque arm mount? \
also, my car is a 1991 350TPI Z28. do i need the Dak box or is there something else cheaper since mine is already electronically driven?

You won't find a donor car for that price. This swap is expensive any way you slice it. I say go with the kit with the warranty. This is the best deal you're going to find.
I do all my own work on my cars, so I wouldn't even think of having a mechanic do this. Plus, I doubt you'll find one that is versed with all the nuances of this swap. They'll probably charge you an arm and a leg.
You only need to do a cutout for the clutch push rod in the firewall. The insulation pad will already haev cutouts for this. Just use them as a template. Eveything else bolts up, minus some wiring.
Email Andris at www.skulte.com I'm sure he'll know if his prodict works with your torque arm. He'll get right back to you too.
You need a 4th gen torque arm mount. 700R4s use a totally different mount.
Dakota Digital SGI-5 is what you need. Don't forget to keep the ECM in the VSS loop.

ok i have talked to Adris and he said the crossmember would work fine.
i will be buying the SGI-5 box this week.
so anyways, my car is an auto so i do not have the holes in the firewal to mount the master cylinder. where should i drill and how does the thing mount up? is it bolted to the firewall meaning the holes are threaded or is there some sort of nut/screw combination so all i do is drill holes and tighten a nut and its bolted in?
anyone have any pics of this?

Grab the master cylinder bracket from a 5-speed car in the junkyard to mount the master. It bolts to one of the studs for the brake master. It looks totaly factory when done this way.

That's true, you can use a T5 bracket, but if you're buying the whole swap kit anyway it should already come with the 4th gen part, which works fine too.
