91z28 rear

Im about to buy a rear from a 91 z28. Its suppposed to be posi and have 2.73 gears. Also with the 28 spline axles. Does this sound right. How much would you pay for one with 70,000 on it.

must of came from a 305 tpi auto.

it should be a 10 bolt and 28 spline.

disk brakes? no brakes? price hard to say right now a complete 10 bolt with disk and a better ratio and good posi i have seen go for 200 ish.

its going to cost money for a gear swap and a new posi. unless u want to use those gears.

Sorry, it comes with drum brakes, e-brake cable, and rear sway bar. Is the rear sway from the 91z better than the one on a 82z.
Thanks

I personally would not buy it, except to get the axles. It's worse than a 6-cyl 90-92 rear (at least those had 3.42 gears and such).

Pass... you can do better.

The sway bar might be a bit stiffer. "Better" is all in the opinion of the driver.

It is replacing a 3.08 or 3.23 peg leg rear that came in the car. Isnt the posi just a big improvement. I want to keep gas milege since I have no overdrive. Could maybe eventually put 3.23's in it but I don't know. So what do you guys think, is it a good improvement over the rear I have?

u can do better, heck u could get a v6 rear like already said with better gears and with alittle more money put a posi in it and have like a 3.42 posi.

i would pass, thats just me. posi is nice to have but still would to have a nice ratio also.

It's pretty much a matter of preference whether you place the ratio or having posi higher on your priority list. I have a peg leg 3.42 rear I took out and a 3.23 posi that's in the car right now, and I have to be honest that I miss the 3.42 ratio even if it wasn't posi! I can also honestly say I can't think of a single person on these boards who would defend 2.73 gears as being a great ratio to have! In fact, there's a guy on the boards whose name is "2.73's Suck". Lol. Once again, it's all personal preference, by my pesonal opinion is that any gear ratio that's not at least in the three series isn't worth the time of day!
