Which T56 is best?
Which T56 had the 'good' 6th gear? I think I remember hearing that the earlier '92-'93 ones didn't have as good a 6th gear as the later ones??? This will be going in my daily driver, so MPG is a big deal.

I think you mean '93, since '92 is still a 3rd gen and no T56 was available that year. The '93 trans has a tall 1st gear and 6th gear as a general rule. I've seen and heard of exceptions, but why take the risk with a '93 box.
You want a '94-'97 LT1 T56 from a Camaro or Firebird. Stay away from any other T56 (LS1, Corvette, ect.). This is the simplest trans to swap if you have an auto. If you've already got a T5 and have a bunch of cash tied up in the clutch, flywheel, and bellhousing you may want to use the GM AFtermarket T56, but you will need to shorten your driveshaft and torque arm.

Yoou could use some items off a 3rd gen 5 speed as well to include the pedal assembly, clutch reservoir and slave cylinder from what I've read in past post. If you can get the complete set that came with the t56 but if not, maybe you can get it from a bone yard. Do a search on here, there was a member that did a write up on the installation of 5speed with pictures.

Clutch reservoir and slave cylinder is too short for a six speed. You can use the mounting holes from the original for the cylinders for the t56.
