Just start calling the junkyards listed in the yellow pages and ask for a rear for a '82-'92 Camaro or Firebird. They're all basically the same. Post '90 cars have 28-spline axels, which are a bit stronger. Gear ratios range from 2.73-3.73 depending on the application. V8 cars are more likely to have a posi, but plenty don't, even if they were loaded with options. The 9-bolt Borg/Warner is the strongest rear that these cars had stock. Both the 9-bolt and the 10-bolt could be had with discs. The aluminum PBR caliper discs are the really desirable ones.

Look for auto recylclers, auto salvage, or used auto parts in the yellow pages.

Don't act too eager, or like you really need the part. Buying stuff from junkyards is an art form that takes years to master. The price they initailly quote you is often more of a suggestion, so don't feel like you can't haggle with them. Get a warranty if you can. If you can't the price should go way down.
