Slush shift
I have a question for you trans gurus.
I have an 87 Formula with the 700R4, and I have the Trans Go, Gil younger No-Yo-Yo SysKoKal Kit, and it was descent shift, Matter of fact there is less than 10K on the trans.
I could on occasion get it to chirp going into 2nd.
This past summer, I put in a GM 24202310 2200 RPM stall Torque Convertor, and If I manually shift, the car will hesitate for a few seconds before shifting (really irritating), Its like the car is waiting for something... Another new thing is the car will (sometimes, more times than not) shift from 1-2 before I manually shift, at about 4000 RPM.
- What is causing the hesitation?
- Can I adjust something?
- Should I suspect the trans place that did the convertor swap for $180 changed my transmission?
- Would a Corvette Servo help with faster shifts?
Any help is appreciated.

Well, there is a T.V. cable that you can adjust, but I would take it back to the shop that worked on it and have them take a look. Then get a second opinion. I have been screwed by a tranny shop before,I kick myself for not looking around. Sounds like you mainly manualy shift the car, so I think you should convert it to a full manual valve body. I always shifted it manualy, because I didnt like the way it shifted by itself, always late, sometime early.... So thats what my new tranny guy did, put a full manual shift kit in it, and I am floored by how flawlesly it shifts, and when I say to shift.

They have done me good work in the past... Would the Throttle Valve Cable do that? (Unfortunately I will not be able to drive the car until May

Yes, a misadjusted cable can make it shift all goofy, but if its never been adjusted since you have had the car, I would think its something else. They dont just come out of adjustment unless someone has messed with it.

When they dropped the trans I imagine it could have come out of adjustment... will try that this summer... is it all the way forward or toward the back it should go?
