How long will my WC T-5 last?

My motor is in the sig, I'd say it's putting out 360-370 hp at my elevation at the crank. And about 390-400 ft lbs. I am putting a dual friction clutch in this weekend and a hurst shifter. I never run slicks, just streets and I never powershift. I also never dump the clutch from like 5500, just maybe an occasional dump from like 2000. Will I be fine as long as I run streets only? The streets will spin before the tranny breaks right?

I'm thinking of swapping a T5 in behind my Vortec 350 too, I wish you luck, and of course that goes doubly for me, lol... I can't quite afford to get a built 700r4 or a T56, and my auto is dead, I gotta do something...

Til about the 4th time you misshift, popping the clutch before
fully engageing the gear.

Does anyone know how much better the WC T-5 is compared to the regular T-5?

My T-5 held up just fine after 2 years of abuse behind a Vortec headed cammed 350. I didn't treat it nice either, power shifted it, slammed gears as hard as I could, ect....I think T-5s are stronger than people woud like you to think. On my car the weakest link was the clutch not the tranny, I went through 3 clutches in once year. Buy a really good clutch or be prepared to swap them out all the time, that is assuming you take your car to the trakc and abuse it like I did....if not just get an autozone lifetime warranty clutch

I have read a lot of these posts and the best I can tell some people break them right away some don’t. I can tell you (and show you) from personal experience that I have a original non WC T-5 and it has had at least 400+ hp in front of it since 86, 50k miles no problems (except broken shift fork tangs once). It has seen some rough use but has always had "street" tires. This video shows pretty much how it is normally driven Video

I would like to take it to the track like I did with the 700R4, but i was afraid of blowing it to pieces. I am getting a stage 3 clutch in today and a hurst shifter. DID you run slicks or drag radials or just regular tires???? THanks
