Need some advise on trans pricing
I've got an opportunity to get a 1991 firebird 5 speed from a wrecking yard. Priced at $750. My question is, is this a reasonable price for replacing my 1987 5 speed from my Iroc.
I'm comming from the assumption that the 1991 trans will hold up much better than the 1987 non-world class that I've got now.
Any thoughts or suggestions in this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Seems kinda high for a junkyard tran. You could spend all that money on a trans and it could blow the next day. Is that the only junk yard in the area?

I agree, it's WAY too much. There's been an entire conversion kit on the classifieds on this site - bell housing, flywheel, clutch, hydraulics, and the trans - for less than that, and he's been having trouble selling it.
Unless your car is parked for a wasted trans and you're really desperate, I'd wait; or check eBay and the classifieds on here and so on.

It is a mound of cash, but the yard gives a 90 day warranty. What ever that's worth.
The problem that I have with buying something online is that a trans is pretty heavy, and can't imagine that a good deal online would still be a good deal after shipping it all the way to MN.
In your opinion, what would be a fair price for a World-Class transmission?
