Rear End ?'s

I was wondering what rear-end came stock in third-gen F-bodies. What gear ratios can I find in these? And will they work in my G-body 7.5" rear end? Thanks for your help

as long as the axle plines match the carreir will swap over, all other parts would as well, except for differances in the mounting points on the houseings themself. f bodys had either 10 bolts, 9 bolts, or dana 44. you'll any and all ratios offered by the factory

These cars have either a 7½" 10-bolt, or a Borg-Warner 9-bolt. The 10-bolt is much more common.

Yes, it is the same internally as the G-body 7½" 10-bolt; excpet that starting in 90, they increased the axle diameter and spline count. So later model F cars and S trucks (which also use this rear) have a different carrier assembly.

A point worth clarifying is that the internals from the rears in the F & G body cars are the same, provided that it's a 7.5/7.625 10-bolt, but the housings are different. You won't be able to unbolt a complete rear from an F-body and bolt it into a G-body.

Camaros could be had with gears from 2.73-3.73 depending on the options and model. Some with posi, some without. No real reasoning behind it.

I'm not looking to replace the whole rear-end, just the ring and pinion. I'm only running the stock 307, so I just can't justify buying a new set of $190 Richmond's. Just thought I'd see if I could get an easy junkyard set.

How about $145 for Yukons? Richmonds are overpriced IMO.

this is a pretty good page to show the ratios through out the years.
