manual to auto help please.
I searched for a while but could not find what I was looking for.
Here is my question. I have a 92 350 TBI 5 speed truck and I want to swap in a 4L60E out of a 93 350 auto truck. The mechanical part is no problem. I just don't know what to do with the computer or wiring harness.
1. do I need to install a prom for the auto into my computer or should I just use the computer from the 93 truck?
2. I am assuming I need to add something to the wiring harness, what would that be?
Thanks very much for any help.

I would think that your best bet is to add an aftermarket 4L60E controller to that tranny since your car wasn't an auto and won't have the connections. BTW why in the world are you putting an auto instead of the T-5? If you don't like your T-5, send it my way and I will find it a good home.
Shifty, I have been searching this site but I have not found very much. Maybe I'm not using the right search words. I find lots of guys swapping auto to manual but nobody doing the opposite.
GASGZLR, this is going in a truck and it is the crappy truck tranny. I want a nice auto with a good stall. I have one in my T/A and love it.
MrDude_1, got a trans cooler already. like I said the mechanical part is no problem. I have done lots of motor tranny swaps, just not the electrical part of the ecm.

idk if this will help but I was told I would need this when putting in an overdrive transmission.

You would have to put the wiring harness from the 93 truck. Set it up so that the 93 ECU controls everything including the engine and TBI. I believe the TBI systems didn't change til 95 but the 92 computer can't control the 93 trans, would have only been able to control a 92 700R4's lockup function not the line pressure and shift points of a 4L60E.
TransAm12sec; thanks for the link but I think what GASGZLR is saying is correct. I don't think that would work for a 4L60E.
GASGZLR; I figured this is what I would have to do. I thought the 93 truck I was getting was a 700r4 but it is not. So I guess I will have to swap the harness and computer.
MrDude_1; Sorry about that. I can't read.
GM Sells controllers, but I think I'll just chop and hack the harness.
Thanks everyone for there input.
