Mystery Trans.. I.D. Help Please!

Ok I'm feeling pretty silly here, I thought I could ID trannys fairly well by eyeballing their pans, but the 67 LeMans I just bought came with one I've never seen before. I don't have a picture of it yet, I was hoping a verbal description would be sufficient to tip off one of you folks.

Ok, think of the TH350 pan as a square with one of the corners cut off... got it? Mine looks like that, but with another one of the adjacent corners cut off as well. The side with the two corners missing faces towards the rear. (A lot like the Ford AOD, but with larger areas of the two corners removed.)(Also I see it has 67 stamped on it which makes me believe it's the stock trans so it wouldn't be a ford tranny anyway). It's lines are too straight to be the TH400.

The shifter has P R N D S L on it.

I'm really clueless here, it isnt on the ID chart on this board, and I couldn't find a similar one anywhere on ebay.

Ugh I've rambled for far too long... any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks!

oh.. and I believe it's a 13 bolt.

could be a super turbine 300. the ST300 is a glorified powerglide, does it have 2 or 3 speeds? Don't go by the shifter, it could have been swapped

check the chart here

ah hah! I hadn't run across that chart.. I've only seen the one with halfway decent trannys on it. That ST300 is exactly what it is I believe. Thank you so much! Now I can junk that thing and my mind can rest.

p.s. thanks for deciphering my text description =):hail:

before you junk it, you may want to see if it has a variable pitch torque converter. Variable pitch torque converters were used in the ST300 and turbo 400, they had 2 stall speeds. The converters from the ST300 were desirable as the high stall setting was highest of the available torque converters. The electrical connector on the side of the trans will have 2 prongs if it has variable stall. If the trans is out of the car remove the converter and see if the large spline is really short with a smooth area behind it.

I only know this because I'm old
