Major Problem with Tranny

Hey whats up guys. Well something very very bad has happened today. When I got out from work on my lunch break started up my 1990 Camaro 305 TBI the tranny would not go into reverse. So I had to first get it into drive....((either regular or overdrive)) then put it in reverse to get it to reverse. Does anyone know what could be wrong? THanks for the 411

check your fluid level if its ok then check your cable were it connect to the tranny some times the plastic clip breaks off causing some play that makes it hard to select the right gear.
hope this helps.

Thanks man. I checked the fluid the fluid was just fine.......now getting to those clips may be hard. I take it is all under the car? Well I dont have any ramps to put my car on up to check it just yet. Thanks for the help though. Also my dad found a bolt in the drive way we are not sure if it came out of the car our not. It is a pretty good size bolt that is black so im not sure
